How do I find my location?
Enter the address you’re looking for in the field on the top left of the map and click on “map search”. Your entry must not be a complete address. A place name or postal code is sufficient.
How do I move the map?
The vertical slider on the far left of the map allows you to adjust the map’s zoom setting. The map is currently restricted to Germany.
Above the slider on the left hand side are four arrows in a circle. You can use these to scroll the map in all four points of the compass. You can also move the map with the cursor by holding down the left mouse button.
What is visible on the map?
By clicking on the Legend/Filter button on the top right of the map you can obtain a list of all the labels. If you untick the boxes next to these labels, the entries for these types are removed from the map (filter function).
Can I change the map view?
At the top right of the map is a button which you can use to switch views: Map, Satellite, Hybrid (map + satellite images), Terrain (topographical map).
Before you can enter traffic points, you must register. You can find links for registration below the password field of the login area.
On the Registration page, please enter your e-mail address and confirm that you have read the data protection policy.
Your password will be sent immediately to the e-mail address you have provided. Please check your inbox, including your spam folder if necessary.
You can use your e-mail address and the password you have been sent to sign in to the MobileKids website.
Now please choose a username and password. The name you use will be shown on all your entries (traffic points, comments etc.) on the website.
To ensure age-appropriate use of MobileKids, we need your age and confirmation of the terms of use.
After you have registered and signed in, you can create your own traffic points. To do this, please click on the Enter new location button above the middle of the map.
Please fill in the fields on the form which appears. A traffic point can be either critical (red marker) or safe (green marker) and has a heading and a short description. To position the traffic point, you can either drag the marker onto the map or enter an address in the field underneath the description. The address you enter must not be complete. The system attempts to find a valid address for each of your entries.
Even if you have positioned the traffic point on the map by hand, the system generates an address from this. At present, only locations in Germany can be entered.
After saving the traffic point, you also have the option of adding pictures. To do this, click on the “Browse” button and select the desired image file on your computer. Then click on “Submit” to start uploading the picture.
Some browsers block file uploads. If a notification regarding this appears, please allow MobileKids access.
Pictures may only be added by adult users. Children may add traffic points, but not pictures. As an adult, you can upload pictures for both new and existing traffic points (e.g. those of your children).
