Grundschule Basbeck

A well-deserved second place went to the 60 pupils of classes 2a, 2b and 2c at the Basbeck Primary School. This school is very active when it comes to road safety training and works with the local road safety organisation and the police.

For the 2012/2013 school campaign, the Grundschule Basbeck staged a special project week. The focus of this project week was on actively exploring the school's surroundings so that practical road safety information could be given. How do you cross the road? What are the dos and don'ts on the pavement? Which locations might be dangerous? The children learned all of this on the ground. Their classrooms were then transformed into MobileKids workshops and put their experiences down on paper, reinforcing what they had learned. The pupils also created their own school route map, similar to the MobileKids Safety Map, and marked dangerous and safe spots along the route.

The school route map offers pupils a great opportunity to make their own route to school safer. In the Grundschule Basbeck version, the information on safe and unsafe spots only appears on paper. So that others can benefit from the children's findings, MobileKids created the online Safety Map. Individual traffic spots can be entered here, along with a description and a photo. Registering is child's play. All you need is a valid email address. At school, the teacher's account can be used for the whole class.
